WEEK 5

this week was overwhelming, informative and a little frustrating but I LEARNED SO MUCH! I have been struggling to make my site elegant and easy to use. But with Shopify I have learned that its not as hard as it may seem. they simplify so many things for you that it isn’t as stressful or labor intensive as WordPress is and that’s what I have been used to.

setting up the buttons were easy because they are basically templates and all fill in the blanks and so the hardest thing for me was to find the correct path in the back end to fill in all the blanks. I also couldn’t find the source code for a little bit and had to do a lot of searching.

I loved reading other students posts. they bring so much to the table that my mind can even begin to think of! they help expand my thought processes so much and allow me to see things in different ways. I also love that we are all so different in our priorities but we are all right. there are SO many things we need to think about when starting a website and there are so many different site builders so we are all going to do them a little differently.

I haven’t looked ahead at next weeks assignments yet but I can’t wait to see what else we are going to be learning! I have started on adding pages and content to them. I need to take more photos for my products and rethink my content ideas because the other sites we compared last really helped me think about simplifying so I am excited to do that πŸ™‚

WEEK 4

This week was both overwhelming and informative. I learned so much about the difference between hosting sites and domains and website builders. I and excited to learn more about how things work and to get started putting content onto my new site πŸ™‚

it seems surreal that I am going to have an online jewelry store that is actually ready for traffic and taking orders. I know this may sound silly but I am worried I won’t be able to keep up with order demand. That seems pretty optimistic considering I have no idea what I am doing but I think that keeping an optimistic view will help me stay focused and prepare for things as best I can to ensure that I will be ready for whatever comes my way.

there really are so many site builders and hosting sites that are perfect for what I am doing. the hardest part was making the decision and sticking to it. I compared a few hosting sites and several site builders and the last time I attempted to build a site I focused on cost because I was very budget conscious but this time I am focused more on time. right now my time is more valuable than anything else. so finding something that works for me with cost and saving time I am all for! I chose Shopify and got the domain through their site at domains.com. it was very simple to set up and now I want to make sure I get my SSL cert in place so that I can have a secure site for my customers to feel comfortable inputing their payment information.

I am a little worried about how the shipping stuff works. I want to find out more as I go and set up a call with Shopify so they can walk me through it and answer the questions I run into as I learn so that once orders start coming in I can be ready πŸ™‚

I really loved the videos given to us to learn more about how to build sites and the different descriptions for each site builder so that we could make informed decisions. the comparison spreadsheet is amazing! I am going to save that template and use it for all my decision making!

it is starting to feel real and that is exciting and nauseating haha. I am not sure how it will go but I have a good feeling πŸ™‚ I am grateful to be in this class at this time. I really feel like the Lord guided me to where I needed to be so that I could could build my dream and help me provide for my family. we have had a rough 4 years and I am very anxious to make this year a great one and become more self sufficient and confident that my family will be ok. πŸ™‚

Week 3

This week I enjoyed getting to know more about google trends and other tricks that google has available to help businesses understand their customer base. the internet is a hard thing for me to read so I very much appreciate when things that seem overwhelming for em get dumbed down to their simplest form so that I can better understand them.

I will be supplying my own products but I do need to purchase my supplies from wholesalers so I really liked figuring out where to find them and what criteria to use to decide on which ones are best for my business. I also very much enjoyed creating the spreadsheet that I will be able to change and use to make future business decisions:)

I also really love to hear the options of the other students in the class! it helps me see things from different perspectives and see possible perks or problems that could occur that I didn’t originally see on my own.

it was also very exciting to learn about the differences between affiliates and drop shipping and the differences between being an affiliate publisher vs an affiliate advertiser. I never even knew there were different options when it came to that business model.

I’m really excited for next weeks assignments so that I can leaner how to build a successful website to help grow my business πŸ™‚

Be yourself; Everyone else is already taken.

β€” Oscar Wilde.

This is the first post on my new blog. I’m just getting this new blog going, so stay tuned for more. Subscribe below to get notified when I post new updates.

I am excited to learn more about website building and SEO and google ad words and pay er click, etc. there is so much to learn and so much I do not know. I am truly grateful for this class and the opportunity I have to take it. Life has thrown many challenges my way the past 5 years but I finally feel like things are starting to move into a positive direction. I am grateful for the teachers involved in creating this program because it is the exact thing we need to learn in order to implement the real world into our stay.

I will feel so much better leaving this class knowing I will have developed a skill that I can use to help my family and make my long time dreams come true. Brother lundean is so good at teaching us a complicated system with simplicity. I very much enjoy his videos. I am also SO grateful for the spreadsheet we worked on to help us choose our business idea.

I have always wanted to go with building an online jewelry store but have been terrified of failure but now that I have seen the data and have done the research I feel more confident in my choice. That is one less thing holding me back from my dreams.

I’d Like to introduce myself

I’m Kimberly Clausen from Anaheim, California. Been married 13 years & have 3 amazing talented, smart, funny, energy filled kiddos- Brylee Sue (8), CharleeΒ Royle (4), Oliver (Ollee) James (3). I would LOVE to be a full time mommy but life has brought challenges.

I am currently working as a personal assistant 3 days a week, momming, attempting to run two small businesses- reNvinted Jewelry (handcrafted custom jewelry) & Women Warriors Boutique (fundraising event planning).

Im a G.I.A. certified jeweler & designer, an artist, crafter, woodworker, photographer, videographer, creative writer, if its creative I have probably tried it πŸ™‚ I love learning & getting my hands dirty.

My dream is to own a small shop with a small store front where I can sell my jewelry and other creations that is attached to a warehouse where I can hold classes and/or parties/events where I can give other people an outlet to create.

I love to plan and throw parties and events that are for a good cause or for important milestones in peoples lives. one of my favorite things I helped to organize and carry out was my brother in law and my brothers marriage proposals. it was so fun and inspiring and a special thing to be a part of.

I am excited for class and grateful for the opportunity and the blessings I received in order to be able to take this course. I look forward to getting to know myself and my class mates better and how to grow a successful business.
